Fighting Fatigue

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society reports that nearly 80 percent of people with MS have fatigue. Reducing symptoms such as fatigue can help you live and feel better.

A randomized, controlled trial comparing the effectiveness of yoga, exercise, or neither, proved that a weekly yoga or exercise class for a period of six months substantially improved fatigue in patients with MS. This finding has also been confirmed by several other studies, demonstrating a positive impact of mild to moderate exercise on fatigue in patients with MS.

A physical therapist or healthcare provider should always assess you prior to engaging in any type of physical activity to determine what type of exercise program best suits you. Check with your local recreation department, hospital, or the web to find classes in your area.
